EEx Level Switch. ATEX Metallic IR sensor up to 60°C
The EEx electro optical level switches are specially designed to operate in explosive environment where they may come in direct contact with hydrocarbons, fuels, diesel etc.
They have been certified under EEx ia IIC T6 to be intrinsically safe when used for sensing the level of explosive liquids in potentially hazardous locations.
Petrochemicals, heavy duty automotive, leak detection, hydraulic reservoir are some of the typical areas where these electro optic level switches have been deployed.
These Eex electro optic level switches use infrared technology and consist of an infrared emitter and an optical receiver. When only air is present in the target object, all the light emitted is reflected internally by the glass dome of the probe and returned to the receiver.
When there is liquid, a large amount of rays emitted is absorbed / refracted by the liquid and thus the IR sensor senses the presence of liquid.
The response time of these sensors is very fast, almost instantaneous and detection accuracy is +/- 1 mm.
They have an operating temperature range up to – 20 deg C to +100 deg C
These level switches have stainless steel bodies which are corrosion resistant and hence can handle strong chemical agents.
They can be mounted in any angle just by threading with the target object.
Chemical compatibility
The sensor body material resists to several aggressive chemical agents; it is strictly to the customer pertinence, the test of compatibility between the sensor itself and the liquid in which the sensor will be used.
